Zhongnan Online(CAN Reporter: Liu Mingyang) On the afternoon Mar. 23th, Guo Shenglian, the vice-governor of Hubei province, along with a delegation came to Wuchang University of Technology(WUT) to make an survey on the development of non-governmental higher education and put forward a requirement of 'making WUT into a higher private university, enjoying a high status and profound influences in the world by having a long-term goal and enhancing its core competitiveness. It can make a contribution to Hubei's becoming a powerful province of higher education'.
Guo and his delegation visited and investigated the construction of WUT by foot, accompanied by the president Zhao Zuobin, Zheng Pengfei, secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Yuanzhang, the managing vice president, Wu Kaisheng, the vice president, Xiao Shenkun, the vice professor, He Xingliang, the president assistant. They showed high appreciation on the beautiful school environment and the geographic location surrounded by hills and waters. Guo and his delegation first came to the College Students’ Service Centre and looked over the construction with great interests. In the Non-specialized Caliber Evaluation Centre, Guo praised the test of 'a good handwriting, an eloquent speech, an excellent essay'. Then they visited the laboratories of physical construction, the laboratories of measuring, the mechanics laboratories. After that, they came to the 3D cinema and the reading room and hanging garden in library. They gave a high degree of confirmation on WUT’s complete and abundant hardware equipments.
Guo’s survey symposium was held in the multifunctional lecture hall in 6th floor in WUT's library. Secretary Zheng Pengfei was the host. After watching the propaganda film, President Zhao Zuobin delivered a report on the running of WUT. Mr. Zhao emphasized the theory of 'Caliber-oriented Education to Success, the mode of training personnels and introduced briefly on the system of 'Development and Internalization' education system,'5-Against Movement''Caliber Tutor System'.
After the report, Mr. Guo delivered an important speech. He said that WUT had a beautiful environment and was a very influential private university. It deserved praise on the fact that it could be the reform polit to create a mode of training personnels with high caliber and became the only private university that could assume our country’s reform on educational system independently. He pointed out that the provincial government had long been supported WUT and would in a long run go all out to support the development of higher education in private universities by making preferential policies in all respects in the future. He hoped that WUT will become a private university with high status and great influences through making its efforts in building itself into a high-level private university and make a great contribution to Hubei's becoming powerful province of higher educations.
Huang Guoqiong, the deputy secretary general and Ouyang Jianping, the vice director general delivered speeches separately in the symposium. Mr. Huang said, "It’s the first time for me to come to WUT and I was deeply surprised and inspired, by its environment surrounded with hills and waters. The faculties were good in mental look and strong in innovation consciousness. Besides, WUT had created a unique trail of school-running after more than a decade of development and exploitation,which was worth the reference of the counterpart universities or even the public universities. Mr. Ouyang expressed that WUT had its own unique theory of 'Caliber-oriented Education to Success' and had set many examples for others. He also hoped WUT can achieve a great-leap-forward development through assuming the task of national education system reform, which is an opportunity and a way of training specialized personnels and thus set an example for other private universities in Hubei province and even around the whole nation.
